Globalization has given rise to cultural exchanges that have seeded the birth of new perspectives on design. This project fused the design sense of the West with distinct touches of the East. The philosophy behind the design concept was to merge the traditional western dining table with the Asian communal round table.
Retaining the typical rectangular form of Western dining tables, a flush lazy Susan was added as centrepiece to facilitate communal dining common in the East. Paired with unique chairs that were designed in pairs. Each chair was designed with a single arm rest with the other side left open to encourage interaction between diners.
Ultimately, the dining set was designed to encourage camaraderie and togetherness.
