EFE 2025 Showcase on 2nd-5th March 2025

A Record-Breaking Series with 24 Unique Timber Product Designs

The TIMB3R Design Incubator Programme (DIP) 4.0 reached new heights at the Export Furniture Exhibition (EFE) 2025, held from 2nd to 5th March at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. This latest edition featured an impressive lineup of 13 manufacturers and 18 designers, collectively producing 24 innovative timber product designs—the highest number ever recorded in the programme’s history. The showcase reinforced Malaysia’s growing influence in sustainable timber and furniture design on the global stage.

A Premier B2B Platform for Malaysian Innovation

As one of Southeast Asia’s leading B2B furniture trade shows, EFE 2025 provided an unparalleled platform for TIMB3R DIP 4.0 participants to present their creations to international buyers. The showcase aimed to captivate global audiences, positioning Malaysian timber products as desirable additions to their procurement lists for the year. By offering exposure to international markets, TIMB3R DIP 4.0 has solidified its role in fostering business growth and expanding export opportunities for the Malaysian timber and furniture industry.

Driving Sustainability with OPT Wood Sponsorship

A key highlight of this year’s programme was the strategic sponsorship of Oil Palm Trunk (OPT) wood by Weng Meng Industries and IOI Palm Industries. This initiative provided designers with free access to OPT wood as a raw material, promoting its potential for commercial use in furniture and timber product designs. The incorporation of OPT wood underscores the programme’s commitment to sustainability by encouraging the industry to explore alternative wood sources, reduce waste, and contribute to responsible material sourcing.

Open Call for TIMB3R DIP 5.0

Building on the success of TIMB3R DIP 4.0, the TIMB3R Steering Committee is excited to announce the open call for TIMB3R DIP 5.0. The upcoming edition seeks to bring together another cohort of talented designers and forward-thinking manufacturers to push the boundaries of innovation and sustainability in timber design. Interested participants are encouraged to register and become part of Malaysia’s thriving timber and furniture design ecosystem.

Mr. George Yap, Chairman of the TIMB3R DIP Committee, emphasized the programme’s growing impact, stating, “TIMB3R DIP has continuously paved the way for innovation in the Malaysian timber and furniture industry. With each edition, we see remarkable creativity and commitment to sustainability. As we move forward with TIMB3R DIP 5.0, we look forward to welcoming fresh talents and industry leaders who are eager to shape the future of timber design.”

The TIMB3R DIP initiative continues to serve as a catalyst for Malaysia’s timber and furniture sector, fostering creativity, sustainability, and global competitiveness. With each passing edition, the programme reinforces its mission of nurturing new talent, expanding market reach, and strengthening the industry’s global footprint.
