Nilam Puri is committed to crafting a furniture collection that emphasizes longevity, aiming to reduce fast furniture waste and the need for frequent replacements. The designer believes that furniture should be more than just functional; it should hold enduring value and stories that we cherish. Inspired by the traditional interlocking timber construction technique of South East Asia’s oldest mosque, Masjid Kampung Tua in Nilam Puri, Kelantan, the collection comprises modular sofa chairs, side tables, and coffee tables with uncomplicated shapes, designed for reusability. These durable, natural material-based pieces are versatile and adaptable, making them suitable for both small and large spaces, offering flexibility in design and accommodating changing needs. The modular sofa chair allows customization through removable armrests and backrest modules, and the materials age gracefully, developing a unique patina, and retaining historical value. The Nilam Puri collection, designed by local artists, crafted with local materials, and manufactured by local artisans, is an investment in both quality and heritage.
